Job summary

Exciting opportunity to join a friendly, enthusiastic 2 site GP practice. We are looking to recruit a 4 – 6 session salaried GP into our lovely team. The position is on a fixed term basis with a possibility of an extension.

Main duties of the job

In accordance with the practice timetable, the post-holder will be available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery, telephone & e-consultations, triage calls, home visits, medicine management and associated paperwork. In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

We are a 4 Partner Training GMS Practice serving approximately 9,000 patients. With a team of Salaried GPs, Nurses, admin and reception staff. A Practice Manager and Assistant Practice Manager.

Job Summary:

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • In accordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/herself available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, triage calls, triage visits, checking and signing of repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
  • Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
  • Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
  • Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
  • In consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols, developing care plans and providing counselling and health education.
  • To assist in the establishment of appropriate systems to manage chronic medical conditions.
  • Completion of clinically related administrative and non clinical duties needed for the delivery of the service.
  • Refer patients for further opinions and interventions according to Practice protocols
  • Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
  • Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions wherever possible).
  • Prescribing in accordance with the local or Practice prescribing formulary whenever this is clinically appropriate.

In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

 

The practice will offer mentoring to facilitate personal development.

Experience

Essential

  • Recent experience of working in general practice in the UK.
  • Commitment to and experience of working as part of a

  • and Outcome Framework (QOF)

Desirable

  • Evidence of independent working in General Practice
  • Experience of supporting service change
  • Evidence of participation in QOF
  • Evidence of participation in Audit

Qualifications

Essential

  • A medical practitioner whose name is included in the
  • General Practitioner Register under article 10 of the
  • General and Specialist Medical Practice Order 2003.
  • Not subject to suspension under section 41A of the Medical
  • Act 1983./
  • Qualified General Practitioner (completed certificate of
  • Completion of Training CCT)
  • Currently on a PCT performers list and not suspended from
  • that list or from the medical register
  • DBS clearance
  • Have had an annual NHS appraisal

Desirable

  • Evidence of further postgraduate educational
  • activities in relevant fields
  • MRCGP
  • DCH
  • DRCOG
  • Evidence of CPD activities
