Dr Rehanna Chaudhary
Hi, I’m Rehanna.
I have been a GP in Doncaster for over 21 years. I was a partner for 13 years and left to locum full time for the last 8 years. This has given me back control over my work-life balance, flexibility, and the opportunity and confidence to develop other interests. I am currently working as a long-term locum in Mexborough. My other work has included sessional work at the Covid Hubs in Rotherham and Doncaster and the PCD Health Inclusion Clinics as I have interest in the health inequalities of our marginalised communities. My non-NHS work includes tribunal work and medico-legal assessments of soft tissue injuries and property development. I have provided medical care abroad in refugee camps. I am also a serving Justice of the Peace in the Family Courts.
I have been through many difficult challenges during my career both professional and personal and my experiences have given me resilience, empathy, and a drive to help others going through similar difficulties. General practice is becoming more and more demanding and it can be easy to feel isolated. There is an increasing cohort of sessional GPs; a group I feel are often overlooked. I hope I can go some way to inspire those considering non-traditional roles, or who have experienced personal or professional struggles or prejudice. I don’t claim to have all the answers but I am a great listener and hope I can support those who are afraid to speak out.
